How to Lose Weight

I’ve been struggling with weight loss for a long time now. It’s funny, because growing up I weighed 98 pounds. I could never move the needle further than that. Then, going to college, I put on a couple of pounds but barely weighed more than 105. I think when I started working full time is when I started to gain the weight. I weighed 125 for the longest time. It wasn’t until I hit my 30’s, 40’s and 50’s that I had to figure something else out. As I got older, I kept gaining and couldn’t lose weight.

I tried diet after diet — Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Keto diet, and others. I hired a nutritionist from Lifetime Fitness in Garden City, which was a total waste. Then I hired a  “Triathlon” nutritionist from Colorado who told me what she told everyone else.  Nothing moved the needle. I was miserable.

I saw a video ad on Instagram. I watched it. It made sense. The video focused on metabolic profiling.

I called the company, which was called MetPro. After my initial conversation, it made so much sense, I decided to join and a few weeks after that, I realized the program worked. I dropped five pounds within the first month. This was the first time I lost weight in years.

How does the program work?

First off, you have an intake. Then, you are assigned a coach.  My coach, Polly, was amazing. She was so encouraging. The program is totally customized just for you.

After that, you download an app. The app tells you what you can eat and you can tailor a meal to what you like on the list. It also has a full range of exercises, which I love. It shows you how to do everything. There’s actually a video of each exercise demonstrating the moves. (I just love that!)

Polly kept in touch with me nearly every day by either texting me or calling me to talk. A few times she even asked me to take photos of my meals (and of myself which I really didn’t want to send to her).

She also kept adjusting and re-adjusting my intake.

I think this is the first time in my life that I’m impressed with a diet, because it’s not really a diet. It’s a lifestyle. 

My husband laughs at me and says, “this isn’t my refrigerator.” I’ve changed in the last month. I have been so much more conscience of what I am putting into my body and you know what? I feel great.

The other thing I’ve noticed is that I dropped two sizes at my favorite store. That was so exciting when I went to the clothing store and could actually buy two sizes lower than what I normally wear! 

I will certainly continue with this program and keep you informed of my progress. I want to lose at least 10 more pounds, maybe a little more. I’m almost half way there and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.
