Hi there, my name is Hilary Topper and I’m the CEO of HJMT Public Relations Inc., an award-winning Long Island and New York City-based public relations and social media marketing agency. In 2008, I started to blog. After that, I got hooked on social media!

I’m also chief curator at HJMT Media Company LLC, where I write two blogs — NY Lifestyle Blog and A Triathlete’s Diary blog. I’m also a podcaster at Hilary Topper On Air.

NY Lifestyle Blog focuses on life in business, product reviews, book reviews, wearable technology, the Internet of Things, travel, concerts, and music reviews as well as my daily observations about life in New York. It’s an eclectic look at things I’m interested in and hopefully, when you read it, you’ll relate.

I am proud to say that this blog was named “Blog of the Year” by the Fair Media Council and was also a two-time Stevie Awards “Woman’s Blog of the Year” finalist.

I have always been a tech geek, interested in all sorts of technology. In 2011, I was selected as a beta tester for Google as a Google Glass

Explorer.  After that, I debuted the first Google Glass Reality Show, Glasslandia

My passion for triathlons led me to start https://www.ATriathletesDiary.com to help motivate people to get out and do something active. I was never an athlete. So, if I can do it, you can too!

I’ve had my podcast, Hilary Topper on Air since 2011. I’ve interviewed amazing guests including Paul Facella of McDonald’s, John Scully of Apple and Pepsi, Matt Dixon, former professional triathlete and two-time author, and a host of other famous and interesting people! To date, we have 250,000 listeners on that site!

In my day job, I am president and founder of HJMT Public Relations, Inc., a leading Long Island and New York City-based public relations and social media marketing agency. Before starting the business, I worked at top public relations firms such as Ogilvy & Mather PR; Hill, Holiday/PR; and Ruder Finn/PR. I also served as Director of Public Relations and Development for two non-profit organizations in New York City.

How did I get into social media? I’ve always been interested in how a group can influence someone’s buying decisions. I was an early adopter of social media and had profiles on several sites early in 2007. In August 2009, seeing the power of social media to move markets led me to write one of the first books on the subject, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Social Media, but were afraid to ask… Building Your Business Using Consumer Generated Media. The book garnered positive reviews across the country and internationally.

Recently, I published my second book, Branding in a Digital World, which is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iUniverse and on our website.

I practice what I preach. I’m proud to say that I’m an adjunct professor at Hofstra University in their Master’s and Undergraduate programs teaching digital communications, persuasive public speaking and PR campaigns, among other things.

I have received numerous awards and honors for my accomplishments from PRWeek, Newsday, The Communicator Awards, International Association of Business Communicators, Long Island Center for Business & Professional Women, Long Island Business News, Girl Scouts of Nassau County, DiversityBusiness.com, The Stevie Awards, and BRAVA Award.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Hunter College and a Masters in Public Administration from Baruch College.
